Student Intern
Ryan (he/him) is a BCom student at McGill Desautels Faculty of Management where he is majoring in finance. At McGill, Ryan plays on the water polo team and is the team’s Vice President of Finance. He is a graduate of Sacred Heart School of Halifax where he was Head Prefect, Valedictorian and won the Board of Governors’ Award for Overall Outstanding Contribution to School Life. Previous work experiences include an internship at a Halifax-based technology startup.
Ryan is passionate about fostering innovation in Canada through the support of Canadian startups and small-to-medium enterprises.

Inclusive Canada Project Lead
Alfred (he/him) is a community organizer and a social entrepreneur living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is currently the Founder and CEO of Tribe Network. He was previously a member of the Prime Minister's Youth Council and a Project Lead at the Centre for Employment Innovation. At the age of seven, Alfred and his family moved from Ghana to Canada to pursue a better quality of life. He is passionate about youth issues, inclusion, equity and community well-being.

Parliamentary Research Assistant and Legal Intern
Caelan (she/her) holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, graduating in 2024. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Queen’s University, where she studied Gender Studies, Indigenous Studies and received her Certificate in Law. She is passionate about dismantling discrimination and inequality and has valued the opportunity to bring this experience to innovative business environments.
Caelan applies her legal skill set towards supporting innovation, competition and technology in Canada. Before coming to the Senate, she helped develop and train large language models (LLMs) while working with a Canadian artificial intelligence startup. Her legal education has been marked by a dedicated focus on technology law, with particular interests in privacy, data governance, and digital policy.
She looks forward to opportunities that allow her to both learn from and contribute to enhancing the state of competition in the country. Following law school Caelan plans to pursue private practice in Toronto where she aims to further leverage her skills and knowledge to make meaningful contributions.

Research Support Assistant
Gabrielle (she/her) is a researcher experienced in the realms of regenerative agriculture, climate change, and knowledge mobilization. Previously worked as a Senate Page for two years, Gabrielle obtained a wealth of experience with Senate procedure, parliamentary affairs, and government protocol, in both official languages.
Gabrielle holds a BA in Law & Legal Studies and Psychology from Carleton University, and completed her JD/BCL at McGill Law.

Legal Intern
Michelle (she/her) holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, graduating in 2022. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from The University of Waterloo, where she studied Human Resource Management and Legal Studies.
Her experience working as a Research Assistant with the Centre for Law, Technology and Society at The University of Ottawa introduced her to the intersection between law and technology in an innovative society. Michelle is passionate about consumer protection and data privacy, and learning about changes in competition law and policy in the digital era.

Legal Intern
Priya (she/her) is a passionate law student in her final year of studies at the University of Ottawa. Before law school, she worked for a national student advocacy organization and a government relations firm. Priya has a keen interest in technology law and policy. She has worked as a Research Assistant to Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-Commerce Law, Michael Geist, throughout her studies. Priya has a specific interest in privacy law and is researching Bill C-27 – which is seeking to modernize private sector privacy law in Canada. Priya seeks to fuse her skills in politics, policy and law to put forward innovative ideas to improve the regulatory environment in Canada.
Priya holds a BA from McGill University, a Master’s in Political Management from Carleton University and is in her final semester of law school at the University of Ottawa.

Digital Government Project Lead
Vladyslava (she/her) has more than 7+ years of management background in the private sector and nonprofit sphere. Previously, her work centred on consulting and digital solutions, providing strategic counsel and direction to clients across industries on strategy development, marketing science and digital transformations. Vladyslava has experience in coordinating projects in partnership with the House of Commons of Canada, the German Federal Foreign Office, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Schwarzkopf-Stiftung Junges Europa, European Commission. As a person, her passion and motivation are people. She is actively involved in volunteering and helping people evacuate from front-line cities in Ukraine.
Vladyslava holds a Software Product Management Specialization from University of Alberta and a MA with honours in International Economic Relations from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
